Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is one of the oldest forms of medicine to date.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage aims to identify and treat muscle dysfunction. It traces the pain or discomfort that someone may be suffering, as far back to the original cause as possible. Remedial massage encompasses a range of techniques to treat the cause of dysfunction. Here are some of the different issues that remedial massage can assist with:

  • Sporting and occupational injuries

  • Back, neck and joint pain

  • Headaches

  • Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)

  • Stress, depression and anxiety

  • Hypertension

  • Circulatory issues

  • Boost immunity by stimulating lymph flow

  • Sleep patterns

  • Postural imbalances

  • Flexibility

  • Scar tissue mobilisation

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Plantar fasciitis

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage often incorporates a series of Swedish and remedial massage techniques to assist general well-being; enabling you to take valuable time out for you and your baby. It is shown to improve mood; assist tired, aching muscles; improve sleep and relaxation and it has been shown to assist easier delivery during childbirth.

Amanda is an experienced, fully trained pregnancy massage therapist, offering pregnancy massage in a side-lying position with the use of cushions for a more comfortable, relaxed massage.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a form of massage used heavily around pre and post training events. It encompasses a series of dynamic techniques such as stretching and active release techniques. The pressure used in sports massage can vary depending on where you are in your training regime. It is beneficial post training to improve the flushing and recovery times of the muscles and is generally a longer stroke to minimise pain.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a gentle form of manual therapy, using a sustained stretching pressure into restrictions in the fascia. Fascia is a thin connective tissue that overlays the muscle, providing a framework and connecting every part of the body. Tightness and dysfunction in the fascia can cause pain and restrict motion, therefore, this form of therapy can be very effective at releasing restriction, pain and discomfort.

Relaxation Massage

Swedish relaxation massage is a gentle form of massage used to relax your tired, aching muscles. Relaxation massage assists in moving your body out of sympathetic nervous system activation; the stressed response of ‘fight or flight’ into parasympathetic nervous system, our bodies ‘rest and digest’ state, leaving you with a deep sense of well-being. Relaxation massage has also shown to improve circulation, reduce stress and anxiety, improve flexibility and enhance sleep quality. Relaxation massage is perfect for anyone that is stressed, working long hours, or for anyone that just needs some ‘me time.’

Naturopathy is a system of healing based on a holistic approach of getting to the root cause of disease. It treats the body with a combination of herbs and nutrients, lifestyle changes and exercise. A naturopath is trained to assess your condition, provide advice, treatments and support so you can achieve optimum health. As a naturopath, Amanda does not diagnose a condition, but rather, looks for any underlying imbalances or deficiencies within the body and works at correcting these. While her special interests include gastrointestinal, auto-immune thyroiditis, female hormones and children's behavioural issues, she treats all types of health conditions.

Naturopathy incorporates a series of different treatments, such as:

  • Diet and nutritional advice and changes

  • Herbal medicine

  • Lifestyle advice and changes

  • Iridology/nail/tongue analysis

  • Functional testing if required

  • Flower essences to assist with the emotions

There are many chronic conditions that naturopathy can assist with, such as:

  • Digestive issues

    • Constipation

    • Diarrohea

    • Leaky gut

    • IBS

    • Malabsorption of nutrients

  • Food intolerances

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Heavy metal toxicity

  • Auto immune disorders

    • Hashimoto's

    • Fibromyalgia

  • Endocrine disorders

    • Adrenal fatigue

    • Thyroid conditions

  • Metabolic dysfunctions

  • Immune disorders

  • Sleep disorders

  • Chronic pain

  • Hormone imbalances

Functional Testing

At Synergistic Health, there is a focus on functional testing to identify your unique biochemical makeup and the potential for disease. This gives us a clearer idea of what is going on inside your body, often preventing it from happening in the first place. While medical testing reveals a problem when something is outside the normal range, functional testing can identify many physiological changes before they lead to chronic conditions. This is only one part of your comprehensive health assessment, it also requires you and Amanda to work closely together to resolve any nutritional deficiencies or identified problems which could have been manifesting for a long time. Compliance and commitment to your health plan will be crucial to your success.

Synergistic Health offers a range of different testing, including:

  • Vitamins and minerals

  • Heavy metals

  • Gene testing

  • Hormone testing

  • Stool analysis

  • Allergy testing including food sensitivity

  • Blood pressure testing

Depending on symptoms, food sensitivity and allergen testing can be done via blood spot or serum samples through an external pathology centre or with a detailed food diary. Ascertaining any allergies or sensitivities, food or otherwise, is paramount in maintaining long-term health and in the successful treatment of many chronic diseases.

Iridology is the study of the iris. Often past or present health conditions can manifest in different parts of the iris, which can be an effective indicator of your overall health. Amanda can use iridology to gain a better understanding of the particular constitution that you are and what may potentially be going on in your body, past or present.

Western Herbal Medicine

Western herbal medicine involves the use of herbs for their phytochemical properties to assist in the healing process. Herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years often as a first line treatment in the healing of disease. Amanda blends her own liquid herbal formula to individually suit your needs; this usually forms part of your naturopathic treatment protocol.
